A song to cross the space between To sing you back to my world …. A song to sing you back, to bring you back for a moment… for a moment A song to bring you back. Let me sing you back Come sit with me, for a moment Perfect heart. Perfect smile. Climb too high, but you fall with style. A thirst for life and drama. It was so fun to be your mama … sometimes ….. sometimes. Hannah… Hannah… Hannah… I saw you flying. I heard you whisper. I feel your love. I feel your love. A song to sing you back, To bring you back for a moment A song to bring you back. Let me sing you back Come sit with me, for a moment Perfect face. Perfect eyes. Troubled thoughts and little lies. All rolled into one. All wrapped, and then undone. … undone …. Undone. Hannah… Hannah… Hannah… I saw you flying. I heard you whisper. I feel your love. I feel your love. I saw you flying. I heard you whisper. I feel your love. I feel your love. I see you flying. I hear you whisper. I feel your love. I feel your love.

Water to table 6 Check to table 3 Extra ranch to the tourists Damn, I have to pee Smile as they change their order Laugh at a stupid joke Water to table 6 Hear a cough, hear a choke But no one here Knows who I am I am more than this I am bigger, I’m a star A star shining bright above And no one cares How far I’ve come But I know and that’s all I need I’m stronger and wise Cause I’m a star Shining bright Shooting fast Can’t be stopped Can’t hold me down I burn bright, I burn hard Cause I’m a star Shining high Light the night Watch me soar Can’t hold me down I burn bright I’m a star Thank you, come again Hey man, forget to tip? My feet hurt My back is numb Two for dinner? Does anyone have an Advil? Shit, water to table 6 Check to table 5? Or mayo to table 5 But no one here Knows just who I am I am more than this I am bigger, I’m a star A star shining bright above And no one cares How far I’ve come But I know and that’s all I need I’m stronger, I’m wiser I just rise above it all Cause I’m a star Shining bright Shooting fast Can’t be stopped Can’t hold me down I burn bright, I burn hard Cause I’m a star Shining high Light the night Watch me soar Can’t hold me down I burn bright I’m a star Thank you, come again Thank you, come again Thank you, come again I’m sorry KITCHEN’S CLOSED! Cause I’m a star Shining bright Shooting fast Can’t be stopped Can’t hold me down I burn bright, I burn hard Cause I’m a star Shining high Light the night Watch me soar Can’t hold me down I burn bright

You are the beautiful the star that lights the sky You are the beautiful And I just can’t decide I dream in black and white and you, my darling girl, you were so damn right to fall away from harm you were in my arms, you were in my arms I am the cold the breeze between your feet I am the cold the chill you finally feel I dream in black and white and you, my darling girl, you were so damn right to fall away from harm you were in my arms, you were in my arms You are the beautiful the shine that's in my eyes but I am the cold and I led you into the night I dream in black and white and you, my darling girl, you were so damn right to fall away from harm you were in my arms, you were in my arms

Safety. I want you safely. Home from school today. Maybe. You'll put me in your pocket. Take me. With you I could stop it. Taking. Down the NRA. Facing. Off with authority. Baby. I know you got this thing. Making. Good of where you’ve been. Enough is enough. Oh our democracy. It wasn’t meant to be shady. Enough is enough. Oh the hypocrisy. We are a nation gone crazy. Enough is enough. Oh our democracy. It wasn’t meant to be shady. Enough is enough. Waking. To the reality. Painting. A new face on anarchy. Crazy. How your ears will ring. Making. Good of where you’ve been. Safety. I want you safely. Home from school today. Safety. I want you safely. Home from school today. Enough is enough. Oh our democracy. It wasn’t meant to be shady. Enough is enough. Oh the hypocrisy. We are a nation gone crazy. Enough is enough. Oh our democracy. It wasn’t meant to be shady. Enough is enough.

Gotta be dangerous, or it’s just a bore And if a little’s enough, then she wants more. A taste of excitement, A chase of the thrill If she ain’t supposed to You know that she will Always pushing the limits, ain’t no in-between She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen Never plays it safe, always takes it to extreme She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen Gotta be outrageous, noone wants mild If she’s supposed to behave, then she’ll run wild. A rush of attention A flash of a grin if there’s a lock on the door, then she’s breakin in. Always down for the party, she’s living the dream She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen Never says no to yes, no low she hasn’t seen She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen There’s always a ray of light Even when the darkness comes to stay Sometimes wrong can seem right The past can catch you when you’re running away. Another sip for courage, messes make a scene She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen Gotta be the star, from whisper to a scream She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen She’s a Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Queen

My drink is talking to me. It says it’s not my fault… I got up off this bar stool and then I took a fall. My drink is talking to me. It says it’s all okay. I make sure I talk to my drink every single day. (Chorus) My drink is talking to me. My drink is talking to me. My drink is talking to me. (x3) My drink is talking to me. It’s pointing out that girl. It says I should talk to her and give her a thrill. My drink is talking to me and says my clothes will dry. She threw her drink on me. I don’t even know why. (Chorus) My drink is talking to me. It says I’m ok to drive. You know I love my drink, but sometimes it lies. I only got one phone call and I called my drink from jail. My drink is telling me that it won’t pay my bail. (Chorus) My drink is talking to me. It says I should quit my job. My drink is assuring me I’m not a lazy slob. My drink is telling me that I should stay in bed. and have a few more to fix the pounding in my head. (Chorus) My drink is telling me that I don’t feel so well. I see you laugh at me, and you all can go to hell. My drink is telling me to get up off the floor. My drink is telling me that I should have one more. (Chorus x 2)

Can we keep ‘em? Can we keep ‘em? Mom, they’ll make you glad Mom, they’re ducklings, wild ducklings Without us, they’d be sad They’ve got soft feathers and they sing quacks And I’m sure they’ll help you to relax Can we keep ‘em? Can we keep ‘em? I’ll get ‘em a lily pad Mom, they’re toads, hoppy toads I wanna name this one Galahad. They’ve got lots of spots and they sing ribbits We could name the second one, Princess Tibbits I’ll clean ‘em and feed ‘em And walk ‘em everyday You know I need ‘em Mom, what do you say? Can we keep ‘em? Can we keep ‘em? Mom, please don’t get mad Mom, they’re snails, slo-mo snails And really, their slime’s not bad They’ve got pretty shells and they don’t sing But I bet they’ll have a lot of offspring I’ll clean ‘em and feed ‘em And walk ‘em everyday You know I need ‘em Mom, what do you say? I love my rabbits, love my cats and dogs, the mice, the chickens and you most of all! I’ll clean ‘em and feed ‘em And walk ‘em everyday You know I need ‘em Mom, what do you say? Okay…

They say it’s Christmas But it isn’t true. If it was Christmas, I’d spend it with you. The snow is falling, the tree is up, And the lights shine all night long. The gifts are wrapped, and the radio Keeps playing Christmas songs… But this isn’t Christmas. I’m here, on my own. I go through the motions, But this isn’t home. The snow is falling, the air is cold, And the nights are so, so long. The gifts are wrapped, but there’s none for you And everything feels wrong. This isn’t Christmas. You’re not coming home. You’re not going to be here. You’re not coming home. This isn’t Christmas… You’re never coming home.

Not enough time, gone too soon Her absence fills up every space in this room Maybe she went to a better place So maybe I’m selfish, I miss her face And some days you’ll wonder what it takes To get out of bed after your heart breaks But one day you’ll wake up and no longer ache Until these words come true We’ll be there for you . . . ‘cause we loved her too Living with grief feels like walking through Hell Tears start to flow from the things that you smell “You’re so strong” too many people will say But you use all that strength to pretend you’re okay Some days you’ll wonder what it takes To get out of bed after your heart breaks But one day you’ll wake up and no longer ache ‘Til these words come true We’ll be there for you . . . ‘cause we loved her too. For as long as I live, she’ll visit my thoughts Things she said, gifts she bought Her life made me better, that gift will stay Once the pain of this loss fades away And some days you’ll wonder what it takes To get out of bed after your heart breaks But one day you’ll wake up and no longer ache ‘Til these words come true We’ll be there for you . . . ‘cause we loved her too.

She flies right in and lights up a room. Never know what will happen... Now you see her come your way...you better... Light the candles and throw out the lantern. Fasten your belts, hang on to yourself. It's about to happen. Dramarama, you're not home. Dramarama, but you’re not gone. Dramarama, I see you. I know that you can see me too. Dramarama, you're not gone. Dramarama, I want you home. Dramarama, I see you I know that you can see me too. I've seen you cry and I've see you mad... Now I know that you’re laughing... Only you know how high you climbed. Fearless in love and fearless in action. All I want is one more day... So you can. Teach me all your lessons. Dramarama, you're not gone. Dramarama, I want you home. Dramarama, I see you I know that you can see me too. She is the first to forgive and the first to forget. The first to let love and the first to let live. I'm glad I'm in a world that you are in too. If I could be better I'd be like you.

The clock stopped 10 minutes too soon. The bottle broke and the raven crossed the moon. And the telephone bell just rang, rang, rang. The children came down from the trees, with bruised elbows and bloody knees. But it’s only for so long. The flag fell but the battle raged on. The girls scattered roses across the lawn. And the clock bell simply chimed, chimed, chimed. Sometimes we all can lose our way, in a bitter wind, under clouds of gray. But it’s only for so long.

about

Hannah Renee Cain (April 6 1983 – October 28, 2018) was a force of nature, a drama queen, an animal lover, a waitress, a Columbine survivor, a loving daughter/mom/sister… and so much more. This album of original songs captures some of these aspects of her life, and more, along with the sadness we feel in losing her so early.

Huge thanks to the friends and musicians who contributed original songs. Many knew her, but some were inspired to create songs based on what they learned about her after her death. Others submitted pre-existing songs that just fit perfectly. They all came together into this loving tribute album, released on what would have been Hannah’s 36th birthday.

All proceeds go to the Education Fund for Hannah's daughter, Athena.
